PSA – EOD Warrior Foundation “We Remember Ride” 2017

Public Service Announcement

During the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars, the Military Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) career field has had 123 technicians killed in action and many wounded.  Broken down by service: Marines 45, Army 39, Air Force 20 and Navy 19.  The EOD community is a close knit group of individuals who care very much about each other no matter to which service we belong.

Since 2013, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Warrior Foundation (EODWF) has supported over 150 newly combat injured EOD technicians, provided scholarships to over 300 students and supported more than 200 EOD Warriors, Caregivers, Gold Star Spouses, Gold Star Parents and families through therapeutic healing retreats.  They have also awarded more than 250 financial assistance grants to EOD Warriors and their families.

EOD is the military’s version of a Bomb Squad.  Unfortunately, with the career field being extremely small, not much consideration is given to the needs of the wounded, their families, or the families of those killed in action (KIA).  Chief Master Sergeant Dan Duffy, USAFR Retired of Morton Pa and Master Sergeant Michael Duda, USAFR Retired of Jersey Shore Pa, are doing a Memorial Motorcycle Ride (We Remember Ride 2017) to raise money to be used to help those EOD members and their families.

The ride will begin on April 15, 2017 at the Dover AFB Port Mortuary in Delaware, and visit each grave site of Air Force EOD technicians KIA during Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF).  The donations raised will benefit all EOD KIA and those wounded in action regardless of their branch of service.  The ride will take about 3.5 weeks and end at the EOD Memorial at Eglin AFB, FL.  The ride goes from Delaware to California and back to Florida.

To help offset the travel expenses for the 3.5 week trip, there will be a benefit dinner at the Liberty VFW Post 6755, 1616 Beutertown RD, Liberty PA, on March 25, 2017.  It will begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 5:00 PM.  A buffet dinner will be served with an available cash bar.

We are asking your help in our endeavor to raise money to pay the expenses the riders and support team will incur.  We are asking for your donations of food, gifts to be raffled off and or cash.

Should we be fortunate enough to raise funds to exceed the cost of the ride the excess will be donated to the EODWF.

Thank you for your donations.

Checks can be made payable to:  EOD Memorial Ride / 398 Harer Road / Roaring Branch, PA 17765
